Maria is a thirty-seven-year-old single mother. Until last March, she worked at a local restaurant and made enough to support her family and put aside money for savings. However, when the shutdown hit in March 2020, Maria lost her job. She recently found another position, but over a year without work drained her savings, and she was a month and a half behind in her rent. Maria heard that St. Francis House might be able to help.
As a recipient of a Covid related Community Development Block grant, we had the funds to pay Maria’s rent and get her through this rough patch before she returns to work!
