When Your Child is Ill, the Whole World Stops.

Life can be hard enough at any time, but when your child is ill, the whole world stops. That was the case for our client Tasha. Tasha’s baby has been in and out of Arkansas Children’s Hospital since birth and many of those stays have been a month at a time. Since the hospital asks that someone be present with the child at all times, in addition to the emotional distress and medical bills, there is also the added financial concern due to loss of work. Tasha got behind on her electric bill and didn’t know where to turn. Luckily someone told her about the Community Outreach programs at St. Francis House. Community Outreach director, Amanda Benning (pictured), said later “When I came outside and showed her that I had paid her bill in full she immediately jumped up crying and hugged me and wouldn’t let go. It was a powerful reminder of  why I love my job.”
