For Want of a Car…

You’ve heard the saying that starts “For want of a nail”.  Perhaps the modern-day equivalent could be “for want of a car”.  Single mom, “Sharonda”, would tell you so. After her car was damaged in a wreck, she had no transport.  The insurance and getting the repairs took quite a while and buses didn’t run to any place convenient to her job.  After being late several times, she was fired. Savings went to rent first but nothing much was left over for utilities. “Sharonda” called St. Francis House and made an appointment for utility help. We were thrilled to see her drive up in her repaired car, picked up just the day before, and ”Sharonda “ on her way to her first in a series of job interviews. St. Francis House covered her water bill in time to avoid a cut-off and wished her well on her interview!
