Mrs. Watson retired a few years ago. She is seventy-two and has atrial fibrillation, a quivering, or irregular heartbeat that can lead to blood clots, stroke, and heart failure. Her sole income is Social Security, and after her mortgage and utilities, she has $5.00 for everything else. We see her monthly to help with food, clothing, and prescriptions. Even with Medicare, her Eliquis costs $70.00. Because of the relationships St. Francis House has developed with local pharmacies, we can get it for $30.00 and thanks to donors to our prescription program, we have the funds to keep Mrs. Watson healthy in her retirement!
