I ran into Doris and her two little girls when they came to St. Francis House last Friday. “I haven’t been here in years” she told me “but I moved back about six weeks ago and that’s when everything shut-down”.
We talked outside as she waited for her food bags. “I’ve been applying for jobs every day. I have good computer skills and with no child care facilities open, I have to work from home.” she said. She has been able to apply for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) but nothing has arrived yet. “My stimulus check hasn’t gotten here yet either so everything is really tight. Getting this food is a God-send. “
