Arnella Beasley has worked at St. Francis House for twenty-two years. “I use to get here at 3:30 in the morning to get breakfast ready for my Veterans. We’ve changed things over the years so I don’t have to do that anymore!”
You can tell that Ms. Arnella loves her job. She keeps up with special diets, and special needs and tries to get special items for “her Vets” when she can. “ I love my Veterans and they love my food. The hardest part of this job is that I can’t always get what the Vets want. I hate that!”
But nothing keeps Ms. Arnella away. Even during the pandemic, with Veterans on lock-down and quarantining when they came in, and several serious bouts of COVID herself, she was back as soon as she could be. “The Vets tell me it’s not the same when someone else is cooking. And you know why? I put some love in it!”
