When St. Francis House got an email from Dee Edwards, the Project Director for AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP/Future Builders Inc., we had no idea that we were tapping into a powerful resource! The volunteers showed up at 1 pm to help out in Community Resources. They sorted, organized, and restocked our clothing room and got everything spic and span!
But they didn’t stop there! When Community resources closed at 4 pm, the next shift moved over to the Veteran side of things to serve dinner to our Veterans. Many worked the whole both places and provided some true Southern comfort with delicious fried chicken, coleslaw, potato salad, and cupcakes for our Veterans and even brought T-shirts, hand sanitizers, and medication organizers as gifts!
Our clothing room and clothing closet were stocked and our Veterans were stuffed! Thank you so much!
