Our newest SSVF staff member, Jared R. Eakin knows firsthand the problems of new Veterans and that experience set his life course. Here’s how Jared describes his journey to St. Francis House.
“When I got out of the Army I was dealing with the same serious issues that many Veterans face and I did not know where to turn. This feeling of abandonment set in and it was overwhelming. I was able to find drive and focus in giving back and I set the goal to be that person that I did not have when I got out so that I could try and help a fellow Veteran not have to go down the roads that I did. I have worked in Suicide Prevention, Substance Abuse, and now I am happy to be able to try and make a difference in our homeless Veteran population.”
