One of our older Veterans is a single father to a young son. They were in housing, but his truck broke down and needed major repairs and he got behind on all his bills. Shallow subsidy grants are designed to give a little help to avoid someone becoming homeless and help them get ahead. We helped with all his bills, including rent, and other items until his WIC kicked in which gave him enough to be self-sufficient and begin saving. He’s a perfect example of what shallow subsidy is designed to do! -Laurie
