Can I Give You a Hug?

A woman came in yesterday. She was tiny, shaking, crying; she looked terrified. She asked if we had a tent. As we talked, she said she was living in a tent “with some people”. She didn’t know have anyone in Little Rock and hoped to get back to her family someday. We continued talking and it came out that the people were a group of men, and she was being abused. She didn’t want to call anyone or report anything; she was too scared. So, we got her food, hygiene items, and a tent and sleeping bag. As she got ready to leave, she turned to me and asked, “Can I give you a hug?” She held on for dear life and cried.   -Christina
