Why would a Veteran already in housing need SSVF? One reason is that properties that are currently part of the HUD/VASH program might be sold to new owners who decide not to continue with the program. That’s what happened to CS.
Or almost! Sometimes the new owner isn’t really aware of the benefits of being a part of HUD/VASH. That’s when SSVF stepped in to explain the process and show the new landlord how beneficial it could be. He decided that rather than lose good tenants like CS, it made more sense to apply for HUD/VASH. The new landlord keeps his tenants and CS kept his home!
