Malory DeLaney is a brand new resident at Phoenix House. She began volunteering at St. Francis House on her very first day. And thanks to our staff, it was truly an amazing day.
“I spent eight and a half years in prison for a violent offense. My son was four years old. I was in a very broken place. I didn’t even know who I was. But while incarcerated, God revealed his purpose for me. And it’s to serve and help others.”
Ms. DeLaney continued.” I started studying law while I was in prison to help others there. I helped women get visitation rights with their kids, and got outstanding warrants and fees waived so they could go home,. I helped women get into programs they need. I even got letters from prosecuting attorneys and judges to help women get paroled. Once I started doing for others, everything started lining up.”
But Ms. DeLany had not been able to see her own son. When the St. Francis House staff heard the story, they got to work. “I got to see my son today. He’s twelve now. And I got to see my mom, my sister and step-father as well. I have a family pass for tomorrow and we’ll get to spend the whole day together. It’s been an amazing day!”
