“My Children are Hungry, But I Can’t Cook”

WL and her seven children are unsheltered after their house burned. “We have a referral for housing, but we’re not in yet. We’re sharing a blanket and sleeping in the car. I’m scared to go to a shelter. We went to one and it wasn’t safe for me or the children.  I’m not doing that again! The children are so hungry, but I can’t cook. Is there anything we can get?”

We provide snack bags for our homeless neighbors , but St. Francis House understands what it means to be hungry.  Each member of the family got snack bags with enough no-cook items for more than a meal. Thanks to our community partners that donate sandwiches, salads, wraps and other items, WL and her family will not go to bed hungry !
