It’s Just Not Enough

“LW” is a single mom living with her mother and two daughters, one year old and three years old. The father is not involved and LW does not work due to being disabled. Her disability income is only $100 a month. She has filed for WIC and SNAP benefits, but they have not been approved yet. Her mom is retired and receives $1000 a month in Social Security and even with that, the family falls well below the poverty line.  The family relies on St. Francis House as well as other agencies for food, clothing and baby supplies. “What we get is just not enough. Places like St. Francis House are the only way we make each month.”
