“If You’re in Trouble, This is the Place to Look Into”

“AG” served in the Army as a diesel mechanic from 1992 through 1998. He was stationed both stateside and  in Germany. He grew up in Muskogee, Oklahoma and entered the military when he was seventeen.

He met his future wife while in Germany and after the military, they moved to California. They soon moved to Arkansas where they had family, and were married. The couple had three children, two sons and a daughter. AG continued to work as a diesel mechanic. Eventually the couple divorced. “I came to St. Francis House after a long series of events. I have an alcohol dependency and finally I said ‘Enough is enough’. I didn’t know about any Veteran programs except the VA Hospital. I saw St. Francis House online, so I went to the Day Treatment Center and they helped me get in here. I’m just starting my sobriety and St. Francis House is helping me do that. The Day Treatment Center has already helped me file my VA disability claim over at Fort Roots which was my second goal. Now I’m working on getting my own place. And of course, staying sober is a lifelong goal; that goes without saying.”

“AG” continued. “I like it here. I’ve had no issues with the staff or the other Veterans. I would tell any veteran, that if they’re in trouble, this is the place to look into”.
