Larry Knowlton served as an Army chemical operations specialist from 1991-1994 during which time he was stationed in Korea and at Fort Polk, Louisiana. An Arkansas native, he grew up in Madison where his parents still live and own Knowlton Electric.
“After I left the Army, I moved to Jonesboro and things changed. I went down a wrong road and ended up in and out of jail.”
Mr. Knowlton first came to St. Francis House during COVID. “I found St. Francis House and got back on my feet. I started believing in myself again. I got my own place through HUD/VASH and had my own business selling computers. But there was a fire in my complex and I ended up homeless. And truthfully, I couldn’t be broke and homeless again. I went back to old ways and ended up in prison again. When I got out, I knew where I needed to go.”
Mr. Knowles came back to St. Francis House. He is looking for a job and has applications in already. “I’m ready to be a productive member of society again. I’m ready to have my own place, get work and eventually give back by doing volunteer work. St. Francis House proves there is a place for us. They actually care about Veterans and no mater where you’ve been in your life, there is help here. Thank you St. Francis House!”
