The last few weeks have had a lot of cold days, so staying warm was a priority. Lucille, 40 years old, and her son Michael, 22, are both disabled. Between the two, they receive $1900 a month from SSI and SSD. When you take out rent, medicine, food, transportation, and bills, things can get pretty tight. Unexpected increases in medical bills took mother and son by surprise, and so did the colder temperatures! That’s why, when they got behind on their gas bill, they turned to St. Francis House. After falling behind for two months, the gas was shut off, and several hundred dollars was needed to turn it back on. Thanks to staff members working with the gas company and your donations, Lucille and Michael have heat again!
