L is a 24 year old single mom with three children. Her son T has had brain surgery and relies on medications to maintain his health.
When her car broke down recently, it was a choice between repairing the car, so she could get to work and keep her job, or pay all her bills. Unfortunately, the water bill came in before she could get caught up and was disconnected.
St. Francis House was there to help. Even though the utility assistance fund was already depleted, St. Francis House was able to pay half the bill and the disconnect fee, so the family has safe water for washing, drinking, and most importantly, for T to be able to swallow his medications.
