We Are So Proud of You!

“Josie” is a single mom who has been coming to St. Francis House for several years. She has two children with special needs and St. Francis House helped with a variety of basic needs during that time. Finances and other difficulties led to Josie’s children being placed in care. “She lost the kids and then lost herself” was how Community Outreach Director Amanda Benning described it. Josie spiraled into drinking and drug use and eventually, her behavior deteriorated to the point that she was not allowed to come to St. Francis House.

“Josie” came back a few days ago to apologize to the staff and give them an update on how she was doing. Now clean and sober, “Josie” is working on putting her life back together. St. Francis House was able to help her with food and clothing and she is staying on her medications through the help of the St. Francis House prescription program.  “I know she will probably never see this”, said Ms. Benning ”but I wanted her to know how proud we are of her. I know we won’t use her name, but if somehow she sees it, she’ll know.”

Way to go “Josie”; we are so proud of you!
