Working Towards a Happy, Peaceful Life

Natasha Stanley grew up in Wilmot, Arkansas. She joined the Air Force right after high school and served from 1999-2003 in information management.

After leaving the service, she returned to her hometown and found work locally. “But there weren’t really any good jobs and I felt sort of lost. I went straight from my mom’s into the military and I didn’t have a plan for when I got out. “

She relocated to Little Rock in 2011 to find better opportunities and lived at St. Francis House while getting on her feet. “I found a job at the VA and worked there for seven years. I got into a relationship, but it didn’t work out; it became abusive. It was hard, but I was finally able to leave.  I went to the Day Treatment Center and they were able to get me in here.”

Ms. Stanley has already begun setting goals and making them happen. “I’m planning on going to school for a degree in Social Work. I thought about using my IT background from the military, but I’m more interested in social work. Maybe I’ll get a minor in IT if I can though. I’m working on getting things set up for my own and of course, getting my arm healed up. I want to build my credit so that I can buy a house. I have three children, a son in California and two daughters who are both in school at UAPine Bluff. I’m looking forward to building a peaceful, happy life so I can enjoy my children. “

“I‘ll tell any Vet coming here, that if you are looking for what you need, you’ll get it here. Everyone is so nice and they help with every need.”
